The Harvard-Westlake baseball team is the No. 1 seed

   Heading into this week’s CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs, and will face the winner of a wild-card game between Oaks Christian and Valencia on Friday.

Valencia will host Oaks Christian on Wednesday.

The Wolverines proved to be the best team in the area after a sweep of Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) and Chaminade in May. They also maintained a 16-game winning streak to finish off the season as undefeated Mission League champs.

Foothill League champion Hart will host Los Alamitos; Chaminade will travel to Gahr; West Ranch will play at Mira Costa; and Dos Pueblos will host Newbury Park

Lastly, Moorpark and Notre Dame will also play Wednesday in a wild-card game. The winner will have to travel to Orange Lutheran on Friday.


In Division 2, first-round action will begin on Thursday. Sierra Canyon, which is currently riding a 19-game winning streak, will host Kaiser. Owen Sharts will lead Simi Valley on the road against St. Bonaventure in Ventura; Mission League’s second-place finisher Alemany will travel to face El Segundo; and Calabasas will host Damien.

Village Christian and Paraclete will play a wild-card game on Tuesday. Winner will face Orange County’s Arnold Beckman.

Grace Brethren will host West Torrance in Division 3.
